About Clayton Law
The Clayton Law Firm, P.A. ("Clayton Law") was established in 1996 by W. Andrew "Drew" Clayton, Jr. for the purpose of concentrating its practice in the representation of aggrieved investors, resolving business disputes, and periodically engaging in probate and trust-related litigation. Clayton Law is a partner in a partnership of professional associations known as "Johnson, Browning & Clayton."
Because of the specialized nature of Clayton Law's practice, most of its clients are referred to it by lawyers, acc0untants and financial advisors. At this time, Clayton Law has two attorneys, Drew Clayton and Jessica Lavely Clayton, and one paralegal, Tanamarie Heasley-Bileth.
Drew Clayton
Drew Clayton is an "AV" rated lawyer by Martindale Hubbell Law Directory. * He attended Washington & Lee University and was graduated from Seton Hall University and Seton Hall Law School. Drew was admitted to the New York and New Jersey bars in 1987, and to the Florida bar in 1988 after several years of experience in the securities industry. He practiced law in New Jersey and New York from 1987 to 1992, at which time he relocated to Florida. Before starting his own law firm 10 years ago, Drew practiced with outstanding law firms in New Jersey and Florida.
Throughout his law career, Drew has handled large, complex commercial litigation and securities cases in state, federal, and bankruptcy courts. He has also been involved in hundreds of NASD and NYSE securities arbitration proceedings. In light of his experience, Drew has been asked to speak at several of the annual meetings of the Public Investors Arbitration Bar Association ("PIABA"), which is an association of lawyers throughout the country who represent investors in claims against brokerage firms. His cases have also been featured in a variety of local and nati0nal news stories. Drew has also been asked by both plaintiff's and defense lawyers to serve as an expert witness in attorney fee matters, and he is certified as a circuit court mediator by the Florida Supreme Court. He is periodically asked by other attorneys to co-counsel complex securities cases as well.
In addition to his legal work, Drew is also actively involved in his community. He presently serves on the Human Services Advisory Council to the Sarasota County Commission, is actively involved in scouting (and is a former scoutmaster), and served for several years as president of The Players, one of Florida's oldest performing arts organizations. He is a 1997 graduate of Leadership Sarsota, and is a Master in the John M. Scheb American Inn of Court. Drew also served in the United States Army Reserve, Judge Advocate General's Corps for 14 years, until leaving the service in 2002 at the rank of Major.
Jessica Lavely Clayton
Jessica Lavely Clayton is a 2001 graduate of New England School of Law, and a 2002 graduate of Boston University Law School's Master's Program in tax law. Jessica's undergraduate degree is from the University of Central Florida.
Jessica joined Clayton Law in 2003, and since that time has been involved in dozens of complex securities cases. In addition to her work on securities-related disputes, Jessica also handles tax-related disputes, and is available for estate planning matters as well.
Jessica is an associate of the John M. Scheb American Inn of Court, a member of the Florida Association of Women Lawyers, and a member of the Public Investors Arbitration Bar Association. She has also been active in Habitat for Humanity.
